Hello and welcome to the start of my journey exploring my relationship to fashion and societal trends.

Ever heard someone say “she could wear a potatoe sack and still look good”? The good ol’ compliment
to someones physique and outer appearence, yet one which brings forth an interesting thought. What if
we COULD wear anything we wanted and make it look good?

Well, we (yes, you too) can.

I am a firm believer that it is not the clothes which make the man, but rather the man that gives attention to the clothes. I recently read a fantastic written piece by Mary Wollstonecraft which equated the external as a picture frame, placing ourselves within this frame. The pondering of this idea caused me to reexamine my own approach to fashion- and now to share it with you. Welcome.

While I’ve kept up with majority of the trends for the past 22 years of my life, in fear of standing out and judgement from peers, I have always wondered what it would feel like to step outside the norm and dare to be different. However, as I grow and mature, I’m less and less concerned about others opinions of me, and more concerned with my impact on the world. I want to make a difference in every way I know how, and fashion is one of them. I want to promote the idea that fashion is subjective and entirely personal choice. Nobody can make you look any one way. I will prove to you that it is possible to look like a million bucks, without necessarily going bankrupt. In fact, as nice as expensive clothing may be, the individual wearing these pieces is far more important. When we learn to place emphasis on who is behind the clothing, we can work it to our advantage in putting together pieces which are inexpensive yet fashion forward.

This blog will discuss anything and everything I desire, but primarily focus on my relationship to fashion. I will share with you how I pair pieces and hopefully prove that fashion is how you wear it, not what you wear.
